I love having the opportunity to see what experiential, hands-on learning looks like. This week the Lower Middle Group took over the ball-play area to experience what it was like to whirl around the universe like a planet. Class members lined up with their blown-up plastic planets, the Sun, and Earth’s moon to make sure they had the correct order of the planets orbiting around the Sun. Slowly at first, and then faster they walked and ran around the stationary Sun.
The Sun was so heavy it needed four supporters and some of the bigger planets needed extra support too. Even Pluto was represented at the far reaches of the solar system as the dwarf planet it is.
The Earth and the Moon traveled together before joining everyone for a much needed rest after traveling in space.
