Registration For Summer Program Now Open

by VickiLee on March 6, 2011

Walden’s 2011 Summer Program is shaping up to provide campers with fun-filled and relaxing days. Activities revolve around a different inspiring theme each week, while the constants are swimming on Tuesdays, field trips on Thursdays, and fun every day!

Here is a run down of this summer’s themes:

Week One: June 20-24: Book Arts

We will be making a variety of artists’ books out of unusual shapes and materials. For example: fur books with a mouth inside, a book shaped like a rocket ship, a pocket book to tell a felt picture story. We’ll go on a field trip to Mills College to view their artist books special collections.

Week Two: June 27-July 1: Pirate Week

Ahoy, matey! Speak like a pirate, dress up as a pirate, play pirate games. We will make and seek treasure using our own pirate maps. Grand finale: water balloon battle from our tall ships across the Imaginary Sea.

Week Three: July 5-8: Clay Making Week

We will work with a variety of clays: low fire spirit white clay, modeling clay, mud clay installations, Sculpy. We will work with this awesome 3-D medium and feel its magic and possibilities. Children will have a chance to make ceramic jewelry, too.

Week Four: July 11-15: Fort Week

Outside forts, inside forts, this is going to be so much fun! We will transform the Upper Group structure into a Fort Palace! Build food forts to eat for snack. If you can imagine it you can build it…mini forts and pocket forts, lego forts and nature forts. What will you dream up?

Week Five: July 18-22: Never Ending Birthday Party

Pajama Party, Swim Party, Piñata Party, Home Made Ice-Cream Party. Really now, how much fun can we pack into a week? Enjoy the excess and learn to plan a party!
